A man who took his Audi for repairs at a dealership was left completely astonished after being informed that he would have to pay US$38,000 to replace his car’s engine.

Nick Komodina posted a video on his TikTok profile to describe the situation. According to him, he had taken his Audi to the dealership to check a “strange light” that kept appearing on the dashboard.

According to him, Audi later informed him that the light indicated a simple “hose leak,” something they could fix quickly, and that his car would soon be ready for pickup.

But when Komodina called the dealership to see if he could stop by to pick it up, everything changed. According to him, this was when an Audi representative asked if he was available for a “call.”

It was then that, according to him, an Audi technician or salesperson told him that they had taken his car back from the dealership and another warning light had come on, this time indicating that the “head gasket had blown.”

Komodina said that Audi tried to blame him for the damage, claiming he had “driven the car overheated for 80 kilometers.” He immediately contested this, saying that the distance from his gym—where he allegedly noticed the issue—to the dealership was only 19 kilometers.

“Those 61 kilometers didn’t come from me, so they must have come from you,” Komodina argued. He then said that another technician accused him of driving 35 kilometers with the engine overheated. “I wasn’t with the car, so I didn’t drive it,” he insisted.

He explained that he would never have taken the vehicle to the dealership if he had known the engine had more serious problems and questioned why Audi hadn’t suggested towing it from the beginning.

At this point, Komodina was informed that he would have to pay US$38,000 to replace his car’s engine. He said it didn’t make sense that the car was working perfectly one day and, the next day, supposedly needed a completely new engine.

“I’m not paying US$38,000 for your mistake, Audi. I’m not doing it. I’ll buy a new car,” Komodina said. In the end, he didn’t have to do either.

In a subsequent video, he revealed that Audi would cover the cost of replacing the engine. This action, he said, showed enough “integrity” to keep him loyal. “They made me an even bigger fan of Audi. I am officially the biggest Audi fan.”

In the comments, many internet users agreed that the amount being charged for the Audi engine was completely absurd. “Those are semi-truck engine prices,” said one TikTok user.

“Audi maintenance will bankrupt most people,” commented another. “I got rid of my Audi. The maintenance was absurd,” said a third user. “One of the reasons why I would never own a German car again,” added another.
